The very first Eastern Horizons applicant was watching the Indian Acres Camp video in which children were running on a lush soccer field surrounded by one hundred foot pine trees and he asked, “Is there broken glass on the field?” In the neighborhoods that our students come from they sometimes don’t have the chance to simply be kids. There is no more nurturing place than the two camps we have chosen to send our students. Indian and Forest Acres give children a chance to be young, safe and free.

Both Indian and Forest Acres have been operating for over 80 years. They are seven-week camps located in the White Mountains of Maine. The camp offers sports such as basketball, soccer, football, swimming, hockey, volleyball and archery along with water sports such as sailing, canoeing, skiing and fishing. In addition the camp has dozens and dozens of hiking and camping trips where the children explore the neighboring mountains, lakes, rivers and Maine coastline.
